Programme Manager / Chief Inspiration Officer

London, United Kingdom

CUBE Competition, Organised by Ampersand Partners

A high impact role managing and running CUBE - a market transformation programme dedicated to supporting the real estate industry in reducing energy waste – during a period of accelerated growth.  With its successful launch last year we are looking for a Programme Manager to bring entrepreneurship, project management and passion for sustainability and Net Zero to our disruptive start-up.

About the Ampersand and the CUBE Competition

Ampersand is a boutique management consultancy driving the Net Zero transition. We are all about creating momentum for our clients through swift delivery and concrete results so that they hit their targets and shape a brighter and more sustainable future.

Driven by client need to reduce the 30% of energy wasted in commercial buildings, we successfully launched the UK edition of the CUBE Competition in March 2022. It’s the first to tackle the dual challenges of energy efficiency and occupier engagement, delivering energy savings in commercial buildings.

It's an innovative approach that brings landlords, building managers and occupiers together and, through gamification and collective intelligence, mobilises them to reduce their consumption – i.e. the logical first step to net zero. With monthly rankings and an annual awards ceremony, the challenge mirrors a sports season.  The competition has been running in France for over 10 years with great success.  Over 3,000 buildings have taken part, reducing building energy use by an average 13% and up to 55% year on year, just through behaviour change and basic building reprogramming, and without major investment.

In its first year in the UK, we had participants ranging from small grade II listed buildings to iconic London skyscrapers like the “Walkie-Talkie” and the “Cheesegrater”.  The impact we made is irrefutable: just 30 buildings saved 31GWh (the equivalent of £8m). The intention is to grow CUBE to become the no-regrets first step for all commercial buildings looking to reduce their energy consumption.

For our next season - starting in June ’24 - we are expanding our reach and joining forces with CUBE's French founders (A4MT) to run a pan-European competition.

About the Programme Manager role

You will be responsible for the overall management of the competition and act as the main point of contact for all participants, partners, ambassadors and supporting roles. Given the fast growth and exposure to the senior team, you will play a key role in growing the business.

What You Will Be Doing?

Oversee various workstreams and the day-to-day running of the competition, not limited to:

Outreach:

  • Continue to define go-to-market strategy as the competition scales in the UK

- Be one of the key faces of CUBE to the industry:

- Participate in outreach calls to prospective participants, partners etc.

- Support lead generation and management and provide regular follow up

- Represent CUBE at networking events and relevant panel discussions

  • Run participant webinars

  • Work with marketing/PR to promote CUBE, write press releases and pen blogs and thought leadership pieces

  • Identify and collaborate with potential partners.

Project Management:

  • Manage members of the internal CUBE team to meet KPIs

  • Liaise with CUBE participants on their queries and share news, updates and events

  • Work alongside the CUBE team to develop and publish the monthly newsletter and rankings

  • Liaise with CUBE organisers in Paris to define the CUBE product roadmap

  • Define and support wider CUBE strategy as the competition scales internationally

  • Ensure a process of continuous improvement based on your ideas and participant feedback

Analysis

  • Work with the data analysis and comms teams to ensure technical quality of our content: newsletter, rankings, infographics, statistics, feedback etc.

Events:

  • Manage all participant events (held quarterly) including developing meeting agendas, developing creative engaging content, sourcing and working with hosts, communications, budgeting and general event management.

Other Opportunities:

  • Depending on the level of support needed from participants, and therefore time availability, you may also get involved in projects related to Ampersand’s wider market transformation programmes in real estate. This includes conducting research and engaging with the industry on topics that fall under the overarching theme of Net Zero in real estate.
